Cornell University researchers are reporting what appears to be a statistically significant relationship between autism rates and television watching by children under the age of 3. The researchers studied autism incidence in California, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington state. They found that as cable television became common in California and Pennsylvania beginning around 1980, childhood autism rose more in the counties that had cable than in the counties that did not. They further found that in all the Western states, the more time toddlers spent in front of the television, the more likely they were to exhibit symptoms of autism disorders.

It is becoming clear we need tougher laws to deter increasingly daring criminals. From thieves to DUI, gang violence and drug trafficking.

Tougher laws would be fair but considering past tragedies involving wrongful convictions we ought to be cautious.

It seems the trap for innocent citizens is widening and to make matters worse -- who are the people setting the trap laws that make life hard for good people? ... corrupt politicians involved in teen molestation.

There is a problem with the system. The root causes of dangerous crime are being ignored. If illegal people raise crime levels, that is what should be addressed. But by selectively applying the law, the system is sacrificing national safety for the sake of votes and business

The solution to crime should start with a seal to the in-flow of South American criminals and society will be safe again.

I went out to a music event last night where one of the 45 year old hillbilly’s fainted. I was scared that he died, but he got back up and played another song about 30 minutes later. I woke up at 7 am to go to a sleep specialist because I was told I have sleep apnea. When I got there, I found out that the machine costs 500 dollars to rent for a week, and 2000 dollars to buy. Needless to say I had to leave the sleep apnea clinic with my poverty between my legs and coffee all over my shirt.

Vista's interface sucks. Weirdly, it gives you a headache after a while and you begin to long for the simplicity of XP, and switching to the Windows Classic theme doesn't completely alleviate it.

By default, windows actually "fly in" to view. EVERY SINGLE WINDOW. You will be annoyed after 30 seconds.

We get on this bus together, have our short time in close proximity, sit in silence with our iPods plugged in, not even knowing each other's names. How sad. The bus driver is an Asian man who surely works too hard for the payment he receives twice-a-month. The rest of the passengers are on their way to an unsatisfying job that pays their way to material happiness. This could very easily be our last ride together.

There is something beautiful about sunrise in this city. An otherwise fast-paced hectic metropolis becomes this idyllic almost sleepy-town, slowly waking to another day. The exorexiacs are heading off to the gym—I have never seen more fit people in my neighborhood, I guess this is where they hide—the nice El Salvadorian ladies saying hello to me as I realize my biceps are going wild. Everything that characterizes this city still happens, but at a slower pace.
